Collector's Inspection
Why book us?
This service is a go to for collector car inspections. On the surface it provides everything which is in the Pre-Purchase Inspection which is a bumper to bumper of all features and components of a car. However, with our collector inspections there is a lot of extra steps which relate to the value of the car. For each car it will vary, however there are a few basics. We ensure the originality of the drivetrain by matching numbers to the chassis or manufacture date when possible. We also look for evidence of refinishing such as paint which is not to factory specification or evidence of body filler. The interior, exterior, and engine bay are strictly examined for modifications. RPO codes will be checked when possible and VIN numbers will be ensured to be matching and in proper locations. When it comes to the induvial car we will look at the specific paperwork which is provided with the vehicle. Depending on the model we will verify the completion of vital preventative repairs such as the IMS for our favorite Stuttgart cars. When possible, we will also confirm all paperwork and history.
Inspection Policy
1. A Full refund will be issued if cancelled at least 1 hour before the appointment time. If cancelled within 1 hour of the appointment a 25-dollar cancellation fee will be applied. This cancellation fee is to compensate the mechanic who is meant to do the inspection. 2. This inspection does not act as a warranty. Although we do our best to check all parts, it can sometimes be impossible to tell intermittent issues on a test drive. If an issue occurs with a vehicle which had an inspection within the last 6 months, please reach out to our customer service number for review and mitigation. 3. Our Mechanics are not allowed to jack up or drive cars onto ramps due to liability. Given a car is lifted or a waiver is requested so we may jack up the car without liability more checks may be done to the car but these are not necessary. 4. The Mechanic has a right to deny completion of the inspection if the vehicle is deemed unsafe. If denied inspection a half fee will be charged for the service. 5. We cannot inspect lowered cars due to the inability to fully inspect suspension and wheel components of the vehicle. A general rule is that we have to be able to fully fit an arm under the car in order to give stuff a good ole' wiggle. While a test drive is still possible it is the mechanic's right to reject the inspection in full. If the inspection is completed on a car with no access to certain parts the customer will be warned and these areas will be removed from the report.
